Still Life #01
from the series ‘Transcience’

This image belongs to an ongoing series by van Ark (2009–present), featuring photographs of flowers placed on graves in cemeteries across the Netherlands. The series draws inspiration from the Dutch tradition of flower still-life paintings, which capture the timeless beauty of blooms in a frozen moment. Through these works, van Ark explores the interplay between the transient and the eternal, as well as the juxtaposition of beauty and decay. This particular image was showcased in van Ark’s solo exhibition FOAM in Museum van Loon in 2013 and at Nest in The Hague in 2014.

Danielle van Ark’s work has been exhibited at i.e. FOAM, Museum of the City of New York,
Museum Kranenburgh, Museum de Fundatie, tegenboschvanvreden, de Oude Kerk
and is represented in the collections of various museums, corporate and private collections.
